Lineart

As lineart, line art or line art ( English for " line art" ) is referred to in the cartoon, comic and manga art a finished inked drawing, which is not yet colored.

Line Arts are mostly drawn in black color on a white background, but the color of the definition is not decisive. The monochrome of the lines is not mandatory. Line Arts exist in contrast to general graphics, illustrations and drawings exclusively of lines without different color filled ( " colored " ) surfaces. However, they might still contain solid areas in the same color as the lines and hatchings.

In the comic book art, the term Line is most often used to distinguish the unkolorierte, but otherwise finished inked drawing in the artistic process from the previous pencil sketch and the subsequent colored drawing.

Although the term Line is rarely used in other art genres, are also the most monochromatic tattoos, but also the pre-printed drawings in the coloring books for children other examples of Line Arts.
