Linus Thörnblad

Linus Thörnblad ( born March 6, 1985 in Lund ) is a Swedish high jumper. The 1,80 m tall and 76 kg heavy competition Thörnblad won bronze at the 2006 World Indoor Championships.

Career

After Thörnblad not in the finals at the World Junior Championships in 2001 and the Junior World Championships in 2002, he won the 2003 with 2.23 meters bronze at the European Junior Championships. In the 2003 season he produced his first jump over 2.30 meters succeeded. At the Junior World Championships in 2004, the first five jumpers jumped over 2.21 meters, Thörnblad was ranked fourth. At the 2004 Olympic Games Thörnblad not reached the final.

2006 Thörnblad was at the World Indoor Championships at 2.33 meters and was third for the first time in a major competition his countryman Stefan Holm behind. Before a home crowd at the European Championships 2006 Thörnblad improved to 2.34 meters, but was due to a faulty experiment more in fourth place behind Holm. In the indoor season 2007 Thörnblad increased in the Swedish Indoor Championships to 2.38 meters. At the European Indoor Championships in Birmingham in 2007, he crossed 2.32 meters and won silver behind Holm. At the 2007 World Championships Thörnblad after qualifying for the finals, but there he already retired from 2.16 meters as 15.
