Lisa Batiashvili

Elisabeth (Lisa ) Batiashvili (Georgian ლიზა ბათიაშვილი, Lisa Batiashvili; * 1979 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian violinist. She lives in Germany.

Life

Lisa Batiashvili was born as the daughter of a violinist and a pianist in Georgia. The first lesson was at the age of two years by the father. When the country was on the verge of a civil war, the family moved to Germany in 1991. Lisa studied with 12 years at the Hamburg Academy of Music with Mark Lubotski and moved in 1993 to Ana Chumachenco to Munich.

In 1995, she became the youngest participant second prize in the Sibelius Competition in Helsinki. In the UK, it was a little later by the BBC in the program " New Generation Artists " added. 2001, the recording of their first CD took place then the record company EMI. Currently, she plays along with the renowned conductor Vladimir Ashkenazy, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Sakari Oramo and Sir Simon Rattle, Christoph von Dohnányi and also Christoph Eschenbach. For special sensation she made her interpretation of the Sibelius Violin Concerto, which also got very good reviews. The concert appeared on a second CD along with the specially composed for Lisa violin concerto by the Finnish composer Magnus Lindberg, which was premiered in Helsinki in 2007.

Lisa Batiashvili lives with her husband, oboist François Leleux the French, and their children Anna- Victoria and Louis -Alexandre in Munich. The artist plays the ex Joachim Stradivarius from 1714, on loan from the " Nippon Music Foundation".

The Double Concerto for Oboe, Violin and Orchestra Broken Chant, the Giya Kancheli has written for the couple Batiashvili - Leleux in 2007 came on 15 February 2008 at London's Barbican for the premiere.
