Lisa Germano

Lisa Germano (born 1958 in Mishawaka, Indiana) is an American singer, songwriter and musician.

Life and work

As the daughter of Italian- American musician and teacher Lisa Germano played piano at a young age. In 1985 she met John Mellencamp, with whom she was a violinist on tour. In 1991, she released her first solo album. Their second album, Happiness ( 1993) was published in two versions, with Capitol Records and at the British label 4AD. 4AD published up to and including Slide ( 1998) and their subsequent albums. In the Maybe World ( 2006), Magic Neighbor ( 2009) and the live recordings to expanded new edition of Lullaby for Liquid Pig published by Michael Gira's label Young God Records.

Between her solo work Germano also worked regularly on the albums and tours of other artists as an accompanying musician, so with David Bowie, Iggy Pop, U2, Simple Minds and many others. Together with Howe Gelb ( Giant Sand ) and Joey Burns and John Convertino ( Calexico, Giant Sand ), she founded the band project OP8, the 1997 album, slush published. Last time was Lisa Germano 2011 solo tour in Europe on the way, including in Bremen, Berlin, Vienna and Dublin.
