List of Belgian monarchs
The list of Belgian regent shows all the kings of independent since the Belgian Revolution 1830/1831 State of Belgium. Since 2013 Philippe ruled.
Belgian kings in the order
There was a special custom to call the Belgian kings immediately with " the first ", even if at the time the only bearer of the name were (ie, Baudouin I, French: Baudouin Ier ). This applies but is now obsolete. King Philippe and King Baudouin are not or no longer called " the first ".

King of the Belgians

Oath to the Constitution
Belgium is the only European monarchy in which the exclamation " The king is dead, long live the king! " Does not apply. According to the Belgian Constitution, a king can only take the throne if he has taken the oath to the Constitution. Albert II, for example, came to the throne not on the anniversary of his brother, 31 May 1993, but only on 9 August 1993. Present in all other monarchies, the regents are enthroned directly with the death of her predecessor.
Three languages
Belgium has three official languages , of which Dutch and French are the major. That is why many kings and members of the royal family under two names are known. The current King, for example, is called in French and in Dutch Philippe Philip, the fifth King Baudouin was in French and Boudewijn in Dutch.
