List of bog bodies

The list of bog bodies contains a selection of international bog body finds.

From Europe about 1000 human bog body finds are currently documented and scientifically confirmed. The finds date from the Neolithic period to the present with a marked accumulation in the northern European Iron Age. The focus of the spatial distribution are in Ireland, Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Schleswig -Holstein and Lower Saxony. First cataloging of bog body finds were made for Schleswig -Holstein in 1873 by Heinrich trader and Adolf Pansch, by Johanna Mestorf 1871, 1900 and 1907. 's Controversial among experts bog body researcher Alfred Dieck finally listed in his unfinished masterpiece more than 1850 bog body finds from Europe, of which, however, a large part is not scientifically verifiable or it turned out to be false. For the Netherlands, the archaeologist Wijnand van der Sanden 1990 published a first compilation that he could once again expand in 1992. For UK and Ireland gave Briggs and Turner 1986 and Turner 1995 supplement, and for Ireland Ó Floinn 2005 Additional archaeological collections out.

The following list is representative, however, neither the temporal nor the spatial distribution of the bog body finds.
