List of British consorts

The List of Royal Consorts of the British monarch chronologically lists all spouses of British monarchs since the merger of the kingdoms of England and Scotland and the associated emergence of the Kingdom of Great Britain in the year 1707 to the present time on. Not included in the list of the ruling in its own right queens (Queen Regnants ) of Great Britain (see → List of British monarchs ).

For a list of the previous Royal Consorts see:

The wife of the English king is usually referred to as Queen Consort and often only as a queen. Women as reigning queens (Queen Regnant ) are rare, which is why it is missing for the position of a male Royal Consort also at a fixed name. So Albert was awarded of Saxe- Coburg and Gotha, the husband of Queen Victoria, in 1857, the official title of Prince Consort, while Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh, the husband of Elizabeth II since 1957 the title of Prince (Prince) bears.

The usual title for the British Queens Consort was queen consort from 1727 of Great Britain and Ireland, 1801 Queen consort of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, from 1901 Queen consort of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and of the British Dominions beyond the Seas, and in 1927 Queen consort of Great Britain, Ireland and the British Dominions beyond the Seas.
