List of cities in Costa Rica

This is a list of cities in Costa Rica.

By far the largest agglomeration in Costa Rica is San Jose with a population of 1,611,616 (as of 1 January 2006). Thus, a quarter of the country's population is concentrated in the capital region.

In the following table are the cities of over 20,000 inhabitants, the results of the Census ( Census ) of 10 June 1984 to 28 June 2000, a calculation for January 1, 2006, and the province to which the city is listed. The population figures refer to the respective urban settlement in the narrower sense - the geographical area of ​​the city - not the city or municipality in the political sense.
