List of cities in Cyprus

The list of cities in Cyprus provides an overview of the major cities on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus.

The table includes the cities and towns with more than 4,000 inhabitants, the results of the Census ( VZ ) in the Republic of Cyprus from 1 October 2001 and an estimate for January 1, 2005.

In the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, a census on 30 April 2006 was performed.

Listed is also the district of the Republic of Cyprus and the district of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, to which the city belongs.

The inhabitants numbers refer to the respective community in its political boundaries without politically independent suburbs.

By far the largest agglomeration in Cyprus is the capital city of Nicosia with a population of 242 788 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2005); so that about a third of the country's population in the capital region focused. Nicosia is divided by a secured by UN troops buffer zone. In North Nicosia 49 237 people ( 2006 census ), in south Nicosia 47 832 people ( 2001 census).
