List of countries by system of government

This list of systems of government after State shall designate the forms of government and government systems of the 193 member states of the United Nations, the Vatican City and 12 other territories, for which the status as a "state " is controversial.

In the list, the formal, prescribed by the Constitution system of government is always given. It should be noted that the actual form of government in many countries may differ significantly from the formal form.
