List of countries where Arabic is an official language

Arabic is spoken by about 240 million native speakers and 60 million people as a second language. The following information is partly rough estimates or are based on data and counts are often many years old.

Were not included in this table the mother tongue Arabic speakers who live outside their country of origin have recently or only a few generations. This includes, for example, about 5 million Palestinians.

Note that in this table, only the indigenous Arabic-speaking population is detected. This often explains a surprisingly small percentage of the total population.
