Portuguese governors

Office: Elmina

In 1642, coincides with Fort São António ( Axim ) the last Portuguese base on the Gold Coast in the hands of the Dutch.

Note: In official documents of the Portuguese official title was in all ages " capitão e governador do castelo e citade of Sao Jorge da Mina ". In the official records is mostly only " capitão " or " capitão - mor " called. When sometimes mentioned " Alcaide - mor " is a governor subordinate position.

With a signed at The Hague on February 25, 1871 Treaty entrusts His Majesty the King of the Netherlands, Her Majesty the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, all rights in respect of the sovereignty, jurisdiction and property, which he on the coast of Guinea has. The ratifications were exchanged on 17 February 1872 in The Hague.

Swedish commanders on the Gold Coast

Due to the fact that the Swedes had their Guinea rides virtually ceased, and also to a certain pressure, the Dutchman out, stormed on April 22, 1663 local fetus Fort Carolusburg and handed over the fort on May 2, 1663 the Dutch. Any claim ownership of the Gold Coast are part of Sweden at the latest with the peace of Breda (July 21, 1667) finally abandoned.

Governors of the Danish possessions on the Gold Coast

After the promulgation of the new constitution on 5 June 1849 Denmark sells all forts located in the Danish possessions on the Guinea coast of Great Britain. On March 6, 1850, Fort Christiansborg is passed to the British, and on March 30, 1850, the last Danish flag is caught up on the Gold Coast.

Brandenburg ( 1701: Prussian ) Commanders

With the Hague (Den Haag ), signed on December 18, 1717 contract, King Frederick William I of Prussia sold his possessions on the Guinea coast to the Dutch West India Company (WIC ) ( (ratification of the Amsterdam chamber of WIC: January 12, 1718, Prussian ratification: January 14, 1718)
