This list shows the largest timber ships in the world. The criterion is the length of the ship including the bowsprit, if any.
For the definition
Depending on the definition, there are several contenders for the title of the largest timber ship. Some ships are, for example, reinforced with iron or steel components to counteract the bending of the wooden hull planks that occurs, the stronger the longer the wood planks. Some of the ships were not particularly seaworthy, with some even sank on her maiden voyage or shortly thereafter. Some of the younger ships were never designed for driving operation, but serve as floating museums or restaurants. Finally, the information is not credible or verifiable for all ships.
