List of mayors of Nuremberg

History

The office of " First Mayor " has only existed since 1818. Until 1806 the city was the so-called "Inner Council " dominates, whose members were elected from the patricians. After the end of the imperial city and the transition of Nuremberg to the dominated by the Wittelsbach family, newly founded Kingdom of Bavaria, in 1806, put the "Inner Council " his work as "Royal Magistrate " until November 1808 its activities continue, albeit without any real competence.

The actual head was the Bavarian military governor for the Frankish districts, General Friedrich Karl von Thürheim or the appointed by him royally Bavarian police director Christian Heinrich Clemens Wurm, which eliminated the patrician city government until 1808. After several years of mutual blockade the police department and the municipal council were, according to the municipality of 1818, disbanded. They were replaced at the urban side of the magistrate as the managing authority and the Quorum of the community representative ( City Council ), on the state of the city police station. As of 1907, instead of " Mayor ", the term " Mayor " used.
