List of monarchs of the Netherlands
The kings of the Netherlands come from the House of Orange, a line of the House of Nassau.
In 1579 the seven United Provinces to the Union of Utrecht and founded the Republic of the Seven United Netherlands. They were ruled by a governor. After the Napoleonic wars, the Netherlands was a hereditary kingdom.

From 1650 to 1672 rested the governor dignity.

From 1702 to 1747 rested the governor dignity. Under the William IV in 1747 established the office was hereditary.
Batavian Republic
The Batavian Republic was created in 1795 entirely dependent on France. State power was a legislative assembly and a five-member Board. 1805 Napoleon Bonaparte led the Office of the Council pensioner again.
