List of political parties in Austria

The essence of the Austrian Constitution entails that political parties indeed mentioned in the Federal Constitution, but not defined therein. This happens in the Political Parties Act, whose first article is in the constitutional rank:

( 1) The existence and diversity of political parties are essential components of the democratic order of the Republic of Austria. (2 ) The functions of political parties include the participation in public policy development. ( 3) The formation of political parties is free, if federal constitutional law provides otherwise. Their activities shall be subjected to any restriction by special legislation.

A constitutional limitation is of course after the prohibition law.

The party establishment has to adopt only a statute, it is seen, what their bodies and which are thereof for the external representation of the power and the rights and obligations have the party members. With the deposit of the articles of association at the Federal Ministry of the Interior, the political party acquires legal personality.
