List of Prime Ministers of South Korea

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea shall be appointed with the approval of the South Korean National Assembly ( Gukhoe ) by the President.

Description

Unlike the Prime Minister in the parliamentary system, the Prime Minister of South Korea, which has a semipräsidiales system must not be a Member of Parliament. He supports the president, oversees the work of the ministries and ministers recommended. The Prime Minister is interim president of South Korea, if the president dies, resigns or is removed from office by the Office.

Official creation

The Office was created in August 1948 with the founding of the Republic of Korea ( South Korea). Between 1961 and 1963, the official title was chief Cabinet minister.
