List of rulers of the Mossi state of Tenkodogo

Tenkodogo was the first of a series of empires of the Mossi on the territory of modern West African country Burkina Faso. It was founded according to legend, in the 11th century by Ouedraogo, the son of Princess Yennenga and the Hunter RIALE. Seat of the ruler ( naba ) was the city of the same name Tenkodogo.

On Ouedraogo his youngest son Zoungrana followed as ruler of Tenkodogo. He married Pouitenga, a woman from the people of Ninisi. Their common son Oubri founded after submission of Ninisi, Kibissi and Gourounsi the largest of the Mossi kingdoms, Ouagadougou.

The ruling dynasty Tenkodogos still exists today, but comes without power as an intermediary between tradition and the modern state.
