List of universities in Nigeria

Nigeria has numerous universities and colleges, of which the most important are almost entirely located in the south of the country ( with the exception of the University of Jos ). Many universities were founded during the oil boom of the 70s, to ensure access to higher education with the aim of each region of the country. Admission to the program and the standardization of educational institutions is regulated by the National Universities Commission ( NUC ).
