List of Volkskammer members (9th election period)
This list gives an overview of all members of the People's Chamber of the GDR in the 9th election period (1986-1990).
Composition
In the parliamentary elections on June 8, 1986 voted according to official figures, with a voter turnout of 99.74 % total 99.94 % of the voters for the nomination of the National Front.
The choice had on the strength of the fractions no influence. Their size was determined in advance. In the right column of the above table, the party affiliations of the members of the fractions of fdgb, DFD, FDJ, the culture and the Federal VdgB are taken into account.

The Executive Committee met at the beginning of the 11th session of the People's Chamber of 13 November 1989 back closed. Consequently, it was a new Bureau are elected. The election took place, in the first time in the GDR televised meeting, according to democratic principles in a secret ballot instead.

For the election as President of the People's Chamber of the GDR, the following candidates applied:
Since none of the candidates had reached the required absolute majority after the first ballot, there was a runoff between Maleuda and Gerlach, who decided the DBD - chairman Dr. Günther Maleuda with 246 votes.

Deputy to the People's Chamber, President of the new SED Group Chairman Werner Jarowinsky was chosen. He was replaced on January 11, 1990 Kate Niederkirchnerstrasse in both functions.
