Lithium triborate (LBO ) is a transparent, crystalline solid. It is an inorganic compound with the formula LiB3O5, specifically a lithium salt of boric acid and thus belongs to the group of borates. It is in nonlinear optics for frequency doubling of lasers, such as Nd: YAG or Ti: Sa used.
Properties
Lithium triborate crystallizes in the space group mm2 Pna21 or the crystal class in the orthorhombic crystal system. The material is transparent in the wavelength range from 160 nm to 2600 nm and is therefore also suitable for applications in the ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
