The parliamentary elections in Lithuania in 2004 took place on 10 October 2004.
Electoral system
It 141 seats in the Lithuanian Parliament ( Seimas ) were redetermined. 70 were awarded in proportion to the parties that the 5% hurdle jumped over (7 % threshold for list connections). The remaining 71 were given as direct mandates. The right to vote is thus a mixed system of majoritarian and proportional representation, called grave electoral system. The legislature was 4 years.
Election result
A landslide victory drove a working party until a year after its establishment (DP ) of the Russian-born millionaire Viktor Uspaskich. She got 28.44 percent and was thus the strongest force in parliament. In second place with heavy losses, the Social Democratic Party of Lithuania ( LSDP ) came up with 20.65 percent. Third strongest force with strong gains addition, the Homeland Union (TS (SC ) ) at 14.75 percent.
