Lithuanian presidential election, 2009
The presidential election in Lithuania in 2009 took place on 17 May 2009. Already in the first round while the former EU Commissioner Dalia Grybauskaite was elected the new head of state of Lithuania.
Candidates
The Election Commission registered a total of 14 candidates, of which seven were eliminated in advance, partly because the necessary 20,000 signatures of supporters were not met. The entrepreneur Vladimiras Roma Novas was rejected as a candidate because he was not born in Lithuania.

Survey results
According to the survey results was Dalia Grybauskaite undisputed favorite in advance of the election. It was supported accordingly by about three -quarters of Lithuanian citizens.

Turnout was with 1,386,965 votes cast at 51.67 %.
