Little Rock-North Little Rock-Conway, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area

The metropolitan Little Rock (also Little Rock North Little Rock - Conway Metropolitan Statistical Area ) is a six- county metropolitan region in the center of the U.S. state of Arkansas. The center of the region is Arkansas ' capital Little Rock at the Arkansas River.

In 2000, the metropolitan area had 610,518 inhabitants; to the census in 2010, the population increased to 699 757.

Definition

After four counties by 2002, the region formed ( Pulaski, Faulkner, Saline and Lonoke ) came later, Perry County to the west and the Grant County in the south added. In 2007, the town of Conway in Faulkner County to the third core city ("principal city" ) next to Little Rock and North Little Rock was charged.

The six counties of the metropolitan area form with the White County in the north and the three counties of the region around Pine Bluff ( with the County's Cleveland, Jefferson and Lincoln) in the south of the Combined Statistical Area ( CBA) Little Rock - North Little Rock - Pine Bluff a total of 877 091 inhabitants ( 2010).

The metropolitan region of Memphis on the Mississippi River in the states of Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas is the closest major metropolitan area. The distance there is 221 km ( between two centers ) in an east - northeasterly direction.

Further, the regions around the cities of Jackson, Mississippi (425 km south-east ), Shreveport Louisiana (343 km southwest), Tulsa, Oklahoma (442 km west- north-west ) and Springfield, Missouri (351 km north).

In the official census in 2000 a population of 610 518 was determined. These were distributed over 241 094 households in 165 405 families.

The population was in 2000 from 75.4 percent White, 21.0 percent African American, 0.4 percent Native Americans, Asians 1.0 percent and 1.0 percent other. 1.3 percent said to be descended from at least two of these groups. 2.0 percent of the population consisted of Hispanics who belonged to the various of the aforementioned groups.

The median income per household was 37 912 U.S. dollars ( USD), the median family income $ 44,572. The median income for men was $ 31,670, and for women about $ 23,354. The per capita income amounted to $ 18,305.
