Liu Dao

Liu Dao (Chinese六 岛, pinyin Liù dǎo, " island number 6") is an international and multidisciplinary artist collective based in Shanghai, PRC. It was founded by the island6 Arts Center under the direction of the French curator Thomas Charveriat with the support of the Latvian art director Zane Mellupe. Under the name " Liu Dao " to performance as well as multimedia artists and technicians have joined forces to create electronic art. Her work has focused on interactive art installations that explore the impact of new " technology on our perception and forms of communication ." Since August 2010, the Liu Dao collective of artists consists of Chinese and international actors who have their principal place of work in island6 Arts Center.

The creative process

Liu Dao uses digital technologies as a mouthpiece and a projection screen for his emotions and thoughts about Shanghai in the 21st century and divides it into the universal intelligible language of art with. Most of her works include LED displays. The choreographers develop simple movements that are filmed and later transformed into LED displays. The working process is supervised by art directors. For the conversion of movies a self-developed software is used that creates an animated sequence of bitmaps.

Cooperation

All work by Liu Dao jointly created by several artists. Through the exchange of ideas and collaboration between these artists the wealth of ideas and development should be increased conceptual projects. The concept of a work of art created by the conversation between the curator and the art director by the theme is worked out. Members

Since its inception, there is a collective of different artists and curators from around the world. In 2011, the team was composed among others of Sin Yeung Ching杨倩菁, Peter Braidt, Jack Kip Mur, Loo Ching Ling吕晶琳and Jean Le Guyader. 2012 joined Liu Dao Droste also Catherine, Nicolas Grefenstette, Dave Ahern, Alexia Kalteis and Leela Shanker one. The current composition of the collective includes new members as Fabrice Amzel, Guan Yan官 彦, Margaret Johnson, Cecilia Garcia, David Keohane and Melani Murkovic.
