Liu Hao

Liu Hao (Chinese刘浩, Pinyin Liu Hào; born 1968 in Shanghai) is a Chinese film director of the sixth generation.

After completing the directed studies at the Beijing Film Academy, Liu worked as a journalist in Shanghai and Hong Kong. His first film, Chen Mo and Mei Ting (Chinese沉默 和美 婷, Pinyin Chenmo hé Mei Ting, 2002) was not released by the authorities in China and therefore could only be shown abroad. At the Berlinale, he received an award for best debut film of a director.

Liu's second film, Two Great Sheep (Chinese好 大一 对 羊, Pinyin hǎo Da Yi Dui Yáng, 2004) was first approved by the competent authorities. Following the broadcast, the Chinese state television China Central Television was banned but are keen to show the film in Chinese cinema. The film was shown at several international film festivals.
