Live Scenes from New York (English for " Live Scenes from New York" ) is a 3 - CD live album by the American progressive metal band Dream Theater, which was recorded on 30 August 2000 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York. It was released on 11 September 2001 as a whole third live album by the band.
Background
The cover showed the silhouette of the New York skyline on a burning apple (Big Apple). It was taken because of a possible association with the attacks on the day of publication from the shelves and released after a short time with a slightly different cover again. Some of the original phenomena are indeed in circulation, but are considered collectibles.
The recorded concert applies with over three hours of playing time as the second longest in the band's history. As ironic commentary vocalist LaBrie adopted after completion of the A -Change -of- Seasons - Opus with the words: " Sorry about the short set" (English for "Sorry for the short setlist "). In addition to the full album Metropolis Pt.2 It contains: Scenes from a Memory epics " A Mind Beside Itself " (Original on Awake, 1994) and "A Change of Seasons " ( original on the EP of the same name from 1995 ) and other pieces of band.
The concert was released on DVD and VHS also shortened half a year before the release of the CD version under the name Metropolis 2000.
