Llafranc

Llafranc is a seaside resort on the central Costa Brava and has 311 inhabitants (INE, Booth 2011).

Geography

In addition to Llafranc and the neighboring coastal villages of Calella de Palafrugell and Tamariu belong to an administrative community ( municipio ), whose center is the town of Palafrugell.

The center of Llafranc is located on a 330 m long and 40 m wide sandy bay that is framed by rocky cliffs.

Avinguda del Mar

From the city of Barcelona from Llafranc is reached after 125 km in less than two hours by car. So Llafranc was one of the most popular holiday and weekend destinations wealthy Barceloner. Villas, houses and apartment complexes characterize the village up to the surrounding hills. Hotels, restaurants and shops are located on the waterfront and its extension. A campground is located just outside the town.

Foreign tourists mainly come from France, England, the Netherlands and Germany. Outside the high season from mid-June to mid-September Llafranc is almost deserted during the week. Only on weekends and bank holidays are the Barceloner and some day visitors. In the high season the beach is full and there is a lot of activity.

On the rocky shores of the underwater fauna is intact. Three Dive operators offer their services. The tennis club is located just outside of Llafranc and has 19 courts. The Nautical Club of Llafranc are sailing courses.

On the right side of the cove is a long stairway on the cliff and on it's in about 15 minutes with views of the Mediterranean, the first bay of Calella de Palafrugell accessible.

The trail to Tamariu begins at the port on the left side of the bay. The 175 vertical meters to the lighthouse Far de Sant Sebastia he overcomes in about ½ hour mainly on a road. From the lighthouse, it goes on on a narrow path along the cliff and in about 1.5 hours Tamariu is reached.
