Llaima

The Llaima ( Volcán Llaima ) is a 3125 m high stratovolcano in southern Chile in the National Park Conguillío, 100 km east of Temuco, near the town Curacautín. He is one of the most active volcanoes in Chile. At the outbreak on 1 January 2008 with a 3000 m high column of smoke several tourists were trapped by the lava. As part of a rescue 54 tourists were evacuated.

After a short rest the volcano erupted on 4 April 2009 again.
