Lloyd Kaufman

Lloyd Kaufman ( born December 30, 1945 in New York, NY) is an American producer, director, screenwriter and actor.

Life

Actually wanted to Lloyd Kaufman, the brother of horror film director Charles Kaufman, prefer to work on Broadway, as to produce films. However, Roger Corman's B-movie fascinated him, and when he had the opportunity to produce a short film for a friendly fellow students, his interest grew in the film more and more. Kaufmann bought a camera, went to Chad, where he spent the summer. There he shot a 15 -minute film about a pig slaughter. His family was in shock over the pictures at the screening; Kaufmann wondered whether shocks viewers would bind them to the cinema seat.

With some friends he made a second film (1969). People liked the movie and then Kaufman went to Hollywood. He worked hard to be in the credits. He also saved so that he could produce his next film: a full-length homage to Harold Lloyd and Charlie Chaplin. Although Kaufman was not happy with the movie, the audience liked him.

Along with Oliver Stone and Frank Vitale, he founded the production company, 15th Street Films. They brought, inter alia, Sugar Cookies and Cry Uncle in which Kaufman also appeared himself at the market. After Stone left the production company in 1973, Michael Kaufman brought heart to the team. The first film they produced together, was a flop and ruined the company.

Kaufman founded in 1974 and heart Troma Studios. Even the first movie - The Devine obsession of 1976 - they brought out of the red. The next project, the strip Hot Balls (1980 ), could be brought to the man at the last moment and was also a success. In the following period Adult comedies were produced, but soon realized Kaufman that there was a glut of comedies. He decided to combine laughter and shock, and produced 1985 Toxic Avenger ( The Toxic Avenger ).

To date, Troma has produced over 1000 films and was known as Trash Factory. Kaufman operated increasingly as a director. Since 1980, he often used the pseudonym Samuel Weil.
