Lobo (Batangas)

Lobo is a Philippine municipality in the province of Batangas. The municipality is located on the busy shipping route of the Isla Verde Street, this is considered a hot spot of biodiversity of marine life in the Philippines and worldwide.

Origin of the name

For the origin of the name, there are different explanations. The first assumes that the name goes back to the Spanish word for wolf lobo. The second assumes that the name is derived from the river Lobo, which flows through the territory of the municipality. The third explanation attributes the name back to the name Lolobos for an earlier group of residents of this area.
