Locomotive winch

A locomotive winds delay is a technical device for moving parked locomotives.

This may be defective diesel locomotives and electric locomotives, steam locomotives parked cold. Especially with the latter, the winds were important as firing up a steam locomotive takes several hours. Therefore Locomotive delay winds were to be found in almost all steam locomotive railway depots. My drive was mostly electric. Via deflection rollers and tracks could be served, which were not at the actual location of the winch.
