The Lohme is about 5.5 km long tributary of the River Ilm on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest between long meadows and Mitre east of Ilmenau.

Course

The Lohme just East of the 774 meter high Kienberg at Oehrenstock in Saxony puddle, a part of the deserted village location Saxony village. Your valley extends in an easterly direction; on the upper reaches there are some ponds and the former Ausflugslokal Kranichsruh. North of the Valley, this 588 -meter-high Great supporting mountain and south of the 689 meter high Hexenstein. In the middle part of the Lohmetals the high-speed line Nuremberg -Erfurt crossed the river with the Lohmetalbrücke. A little east of the bridge, the valley opens the Lohme, here it exits the Thuringian Forest. Your valley floor is crossed by the federal road 88 and the former railway line Ilmenau- Großbreitenbach. Below feeds the Lohme numerous smaller ponds that are part of the nature reserve Penne witzer ponds and lower Wohlrosetal. Here swings the flow direction from east to north on and so bypasses the city Mitre. In the lower Lohmetal are again several ponds before it joins near the Langewiesener sewage treatment plant at the Pappmühle from the right in the Ilm. The opening height is 431 meters.
