Loich

Loich is an Austrian municipality with 610 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Sankt Pölten-Land in Lower Austria.

Geography

The area of ​​the municipality covers 24.51 square kilometers. 65.02 percent of the area is forested.

Loich is located in the Most district in Lower Austria, in a tributary of the Pielach teeing 4 km south-west of Kirchberg an der Pielach in a southerly direction and is made from Loichbach and its tributaries. The place Loich itself is about 30 km southwest of the center of the district and provincial capital St. Pölten. The area belongs to the Türnitzer Alps, a mountain range in the Northern Limestone Alps.

Neighboring communities

The community Loich bordered to the north and to the east on the community of Kirchberg an der Pielach. History

In ancient times, the area was part of the province of Noricum. In 1307 the village was first mentioned in a document. In the core Austrian state of Lower Austria lying the place informed the eventful history of Austria.
