Lola Falana

Lola Falana ( born September 11, 1942 in Camden, New Jersey) is an American singer, dancer and actress.

Life

Falana is the daughter of African-American of Cuban parents, respectively; In 1964, she starred with Sammy Davis Jr. in the musical Golden Boy. Then she went as a singer and dancer on tour in Italy. Your reputation there also led to a handful of films. After returning to the United States she was for her first Hollywood movie nominated ( The embers of violence ) for the Golden Globe, posed for Playboy and got roles in blaxploitation films. She became the highest paid female entertainer in Las Vegas and was 1971-1975 married to Feliciano " Butch" Tavares of the pop group Tavares. In addition to her film roles, she played guest roles in various television series and appeared as a celebrity guest star in television shows such as The Muppet Show and Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show on; at Carson she was charged a total of 1970-1978 17 times as a guest.

She suffered from multiple sclerosis and was partially paralyzed, but the disease overcame in 1987 and was considered cured. The disease recurred, however, in 1996, whereupon she retired from show business. She returned to Philadelphia back to her parents and adopted the Roman Catholic faith.
