London Declaration concerning the Laws of Naval War

The London Seerechtsdeklaration was decided in 1909 as a counterpart to the Hague Convention on the Law of the Sea in London, which was a follow-up conference to the second Hague Peace Conference. It should now there resolved the unresolved problems of naval warfare and in particular a basis for the jurisdiction of the XII. Hague Convention adopted the International Prize Court are created. This initially succeeded in negotiating delegations with the declaration also. It was, however, as well as the XII. Agreement of the House of Lords not ratified and never appeared as a contract in place.

Nevertheless, the London Seerechtsdeklaration retained great importance as generally recognized collection of existing customary law. On this basis decided several states, including Germany in 1909, changed national rules to pinch law.
