Longlife

Long Life (English Sustainable, energy efficient residential buildings in regard to European requirements and innovative technologies in the Baltic Sea Region ) standards for sustainable construction in the Baltic Sea Region is a transnational project in the Baltic region. It is funded through the EU Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013. It provides a contribution to the EU 2020 strategy to reduce energy consumption in Europe.

Long Life project

Longlife developed standards for sustainable, energy-efficient construction in the Baltic region and attempts to harmonize the different construction technologies, sustainability standards and procedures for planning, building permit, tendering and financing and to make the Baltic Sea region more competitive.

Working in the project Longlife partners from Denmark, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Germany. Lead partner is the Technical University of Berlin, Department of Structural Design and Construction, Prof. Dr. -Ing. Klaus Rückert. The developed standards and benchmarks are minimum requirements for sustainable building and consider the ecological, economic and social aspects in life cycle. To help plan serves the long-life prototype, a catalog of materials, elements and key technologies for energy efficiency and renewable energy sources that meet the Longlife minimum requirements, eg the final energy consumption of 40 kWh / m² year. Pilot projects Longlife wants to prove that an additional effort is worthwhile in the integrated planning in order to minimize the energy consumption and operating costs of a building 's life cycle.

At the end of the planning process, the building is certified with measurable data and the long-life performance issued pass. The practical solutions and innovative technologies are also applicable to other building types. Together with seven other projects developed Longlife in 2012 a compendium that shows the potentials and synergies of an energy cluster.

To continue the previous work of the project, the Long Life Institute eV was founded in September 2011.
