Longreach Region

- 23.45144.25Koordinaten: 23 ° 27 ' S, 144 ° 15' O The Longreach Region is a Local Government Area ( LGA) in the Australian state of Queensland. The area is 40,575 km ² and has about 4200 inhabitants.

Geography

The region is located in the center of the country about 990 km north- west of the capital Brisbane.

Largest city and administrative headquarters of the LGA is Longreach with about 3000 inhabitants. The region includes the following districts and towns: Camoola, Chorregon, Emmet, Ernestina, Ilfracombe, Isisford, Longreach, Maneroo, Morella, Tocal, Vergemont and Yaraka.

History

Today's Longreach Region was founded in 2008 from the three Shires Longreach, Ilfracombe and Isisford.

Management

The Longreach Regional Council has seven members. Six Councillor elected by the residents of the six divisions ( constituencies ). The Council President and Mayor ( Mayor ) is also elected by all residents of the region.
