Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke (Montreal Metro)

Longueuil - Université -de- Sherbrooke is a metro station in Longueuil, a suburb of Montreal. It is the only metro station of this city and the eastern terminus of the yellow line 4, which leads into the downtown Montreal. In 2006 7.00217 million passengers used the station that frequented the fifth most Metro Montreal is thus.

Building

Designed by Jean Dumontier and operated by the Société de transport de Montréal station is located south of the center of Longueuil, near the Pont Jacques- Cartier and the Autoroute 20 Access to the station is via the overlying shopping center Place Charles - Lemoyne. The platform level comprises two side platforms in 4.3 meters deep. Thus Longueuil is the least lowland station of the Metro Montreal next Angrignon. History

The opening of the station took place on 31 March 1967 together with the yellow line to Montreal. Nearly four decades it was called Longueuil. This city name is derived from Charles le Moyne de Longueuil et de Châteauguay (1626-1685), the local seigneur in the 17th century. On 26 September 2003, the station was given the Université -de- Sherbrooke, at the request of the University, which has a second campus in Longueuil since 1989.
