Lorenz Frølich

Lorenz Frølich ( born October 25, 1820 Hellerup, Copenhagen today, † October 25, 1908 in Copenhagen) was a Danish painter, illustrator, draftsman and graphic artist.

Life

Lorenz Frølich received his education by Martinus Rørbye, Christians Købke and Christoffer Wilhelm Eckerberg. From 1840, he lived for the next 33 years mostly outside Denmark. At first he lived in Munich and Dresden, where he was inspired by the painters of Romanticism as Joseph of Fiihrich, Ludwig Richter and Eduard Bendemann. The years 1846-1851 he spent in Italy, and after that he lived for 22 years mainly in Paris. In his younger years devoted himself Frølich the figure of animals, which earned him great recognition. Abroad he was concerned, however, with history painting.
