Lorenzo Barcelata

Lorenzo Barcelata ( born July 24, 1898 in Tlalixcoyan, Veracruz, † July 13, 1943 in Mexico City) was a Mexican composer.

Barcelata created the soundtrack to a number of Mexican films in the 1930s, for example, for Allá en el Rancho Grande and Mano a mano. He became famous as a composer of both titles María Elena and Cielito Lindo (both 1936), which were like many of his popular songs also often used posthumously for film scores.

His song El Cascabel is included in the music collection on the Voyager Golden Record.
