Lorenzo Lippi

Lorenzo Lippi ( May 3, 1606 Florence, † April 15, 1665 ) was an Italian painter and poet of the Baroque period.

He belonged to the school of painting, Matteo Rosseli, but was also strongly influenced by Santi di Tito, at the style of the natural character representation, it kept very strong. With 40 years he married Elisabetta, daughter of the wealthy sculptor Gianfrancesco Susini. Except for a stay as court painter in Innsbruck (1647-1649), where he had been summoned by Claudia de Medici, he spent his life in Florence. In his time, he wrote a parody Innsbruck Il Malmantile racquistato under the pseudonym Perlone Zipoli. Posterity especially appreciated his small poetic oeuvre.
