Lorenzo Palacios Quispe

Lorenzo Palacios Quispe ( born April 26, 1950 in Lima, † 24 June 1994) was a Peruvian singer and musician. He went under the stage name Chacalón ( " Chacal " Spanish = " Jackal" German ) on. He was called by his fans " Faraón de la Chicha ".

Chacalón was born in one of the Barriadas of Lima on the mountain " San Cosme " in the district of " La Victoria " in very poor conditions. His father Lorenzo Huaypacusi Palaces, whom he never knew, was a dancer; his mother Olimpia Quispe was a singer. Besides his mother he was raised from the age of two by his stepfather. He had 14/2 siblings.

Due to the poor conditions and the alcoholism of his mother, he drew attention to himself in his early childhood through petty theft. To support his family, he worked as a child as a street vendor. But along with his brother " Chacal " he also earned money already with his singing. In 1965 he had his first small gigs with a band consisting of young people. But his main occupation, he worked as an assistant to a shoemaker.

1968 got his wife Dora the first child. Four years after the birth Chacalón married his wife in a civil ceremony.

Chacalon was taken to a hospital on 24 June 1994 with severe pain. Cholera there falsely diagnosed. In truth Chacalon suffered from diabetes and died tragically at the wrong treatment.

His greatest success Chacalón with his band, " La Nueva Crema ".

Some of his most popular titles were: Soy Provinciano, Viento, Mi dolor, Ven mi amor, Cruz Marcada, Por ella la botella, Dame tu amor and Triste y abandonado.
