Lorica of Saint Patrick

This is a Lorica of traditional hymn in two versions, one of which is known as the one under St. Patrick's breastplate. The more popular version is titled FÄTH Fiada ( As the deer pants ) and begins with the words " I rise today ". It is certain that they used this Lorica as morning prayer. It is also believed that it was created by Gildas. Many formulations of this Lorica today are typical of the so-called Irish blessing, especially the twists and turns of the penultimate stanza.
