Los Gatos (Band)

Los Gatos (Spanish for The Cats) was an Argentine band from Rosario, who were among the pioneers of rock music in this South American country. They belonged together with Almendra and Manal among the first bands of the genre, acting out their own songs composed and not only Anglo-American title.

History

Had started the band in the early 1960s as a cover band under the name Los Gatos Salvajes. From the middle of the decade they got contact with the rock scene in Buenos Aires and began to compose his own songs first. In 1967, she named herself into Los Gatos. Your title La Balsa, from which sold more than 200,000 units, was one of the first Argentine rock hits. The song was a collaboration of the band with the rock singer Tanguito from Buenos Aires.

As a bandleader was the singer Litto Nebbia. As early as 1969, however, turned this on the band and founded a successful solo project. The band members used the inactive time for travel to the United States in order to record musical influences. The end of 1969 a brief reunion took place, who had two albums and two singles result. 2007 approved the founding members of the 40th anniversary reunion and gave concerts in Rosario and Buenos Aires.
