Louis Adam

Louis (Johann Ludwig) Adam ( born December 3, 1758 in mothers Holtz, Alsace, † April 11, 1848 in Paris) was a French composer and piano virtuoso.

Life

Louis Adam dealt at an early age eagerly with piano, harp and violin, devoted himself, however, from the age of 17 in Paris exclusively for the piano and acquired here, especially since his job as a teacher at the conservatory, a great reputation as a piano teacher. His ability he gave to his son Adolphe Adam further, who should celebrate yet greater achievements.

As a result of his experience in this field he published his Méthode nouvelle du piano (Paris 1802; German by Carl Czerny, Vienna 1826), which, widely distributed by his numerous pupils, among whom was Friedrich Kalkbrenner.
