Louis Bourgeois (composer)

Loys Bourgeois ( * 1510 in Paris; † after 1561 ) was a French composer and co-workers at the Geneva Psalter.

By no later than 1545 he was cantor and teacher at the Cathedrale Saint Pierre in Geneva and in the urban parish of Saint- Gervais. On December 3, 1551, he had one day in jail because he had changed without the permission of the melodies printed Psalms. From a three-month holiday for printing of Psalm records in France, he did not return to Geneva in 1552, lived first as a maître musicien in Lyon in 1560 and moved to Paris, where his daughter was baptized Roman Catholic.
