Louis Didier Jousselin

Louis Didier Jousselin ( born April 1, 1776 in Blois, † December 3, 1858 in Vienne -en -Val ) was a French civil engineer.

Jousselin attended the first year of the École Polytechnique. He was involved in the construction of the Grand Canal du Nord in Maastricht and 1813/14 during which he in 1813 the construction of a 6 km long wooden bridge over the Elbe oversaw the defense of Hamburg under Louis Nicolas Davout. In 1815 he was Divisional Inspector of the Corps des Ponts et Chaussees. After the abdication of Napoleon, he was demoted and oversaw the construction of dikes and Uferbestigungen in Orléans ( Quai du Fort Alleaume, Quai du Roi ). Then he was transferred to Nièvre, where he studied the project of a side channel of the Loire (as in the Loire Canal opened in 1838 ). In 1831 he was a deputy of the department of Loiret, and then retired to retire to Vienne -en -Val, where he is buried.

He is one of the 72 names on the Eiffel Tower.
