Louis-Pierre Hélie

Louis -Pierre Hélie ( born January 1, 1986 in Berthierville, Quebec ) is a Canadian alpine skier. His strongest disciplines are downhill, super- G and the combination, but also in the slalom and giant slalom, he achieved good results. Hélie won in the 2008/ 09 season, the overall ranking of the Nor -Am Cup and starts since this winter in the World Cup.

Biography

Hélie denied his first FIS race in December 2001 and reached the first time around two tenth places in the slalom in Val Saint -Côme. The first victory came in January 2004 in the giant slalom at Mont Sainte -Anne. Since January 2003, the Canadians will start in Nor -Am Cup. By the end of the 2002/ 03 two 20th places were his best results in the slalom and giant slalom Sunday River. At the end of the next winter he drove in the slalom at Mont Tremblant for the first time in the top 15 and the first top-10 result succeeded on 6 January 2005 with sixth place in the slalom at Sunday River. The following month, he took part in the Junior World Championship 2005 in Bardonecchia, however, where it reached only rankings to rank 40. In the Nor -Am Cup season 2005/06 Hélie could classify already in four runs and a super -G in the top ten, which he first achieved a top 10 place in the rating discipline in the downhill. At the Junior World Cup in 2006 in his homeland, he was tenth in the downhill and finished eleventh in the Super-G.

In the season 2006/ 07 Hélie succeeded in Nor- Am Cup with nine top-10 places in all disciplines, except for the giant slalom, the final connection to the top. His best result was the fourth rank in the super combination of panning on 13 December. He reached the fourth place in the standings and could classify in all discipline ratings with the exception of the giant slalom in the top ten. In the 2007 /08 season he was on the way up and take second place in the departure of Lake Louise and the Super-G of Panorama for the first time on the podium. With five other top-10 results, he reached the second place in the overall ranking of the Nor -Am Cup and third in the downhill and super-G standings behind his compatriot Julien Cousineau. Even more successful was the season 2008/09. By January Hélie reached seven podiums and in February he won in Mammoth Mountain three races in a row, taking his second win with his compatriot Tyler Nella had to share. With these achievements he won the superior Nor -Am Cup overall standings as well as the Super Combination vote and each was second overall in the Downhill and Super -G. Also in the slalom and giant slalom, he was among the top ten.

In winter 2008/ 09 Hélie launched for the first time in the World Cup. During his six missions he was not yet finished in the points. His best result was the 33rd place in the Lauberhorn downhill in Wengen. The first World Cup points, he won number 22 in the first turn of the 2009/10 season in Lake Louise. It remained for over a year, however, his only points profit. At the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the Canadian came in the super combined to use and took less than 34 runners evaluated the 30th place. 18 December 2010 Hélie surprised when he in the downhill in Val Gardena was driving with number 56 on the 13th and reached his best ever World Cup result. Ten days later, the season was for Hélie to an end. In training for the downhill in Bormio, he suffered a traumatic brain injury and injuries in his left knee. In the comeback season 2011/12 Hélie remained in his 13 World Cup races without points, while Nor- Am Cup season in the two runs drove in fourth place in and thus was also in the discipline rating in fourth.
