Louis, Prince Napoléon

Louis Napoléon Bonaparte, Louis Jérôme Victor Emmanuel Léopold Marie, Prince Napoléon, Prince Français, Duc de Monfort, Altesse Imperiale ( born January 23, 1914 in Brussels; † 3 May 1997 Genolier, Switzerland ) was from 1926 until his death in 1997 the head of the house of Bonaparte, and raised so as Napoleon VI. Life

He was the son of Napoléon Victor Jérôme Frédéric Bonaparte (1862-1926) and Clementine of Belgium. He came paternal Jérôme Bonaparte, brother of Napoleon I., from. In 1926 he was declared at the age of twelve years as head of the house of Bonaparte, and thus to the French throne.

After his studies in Leuven and Lausanne Prince Louis Napoléon came in 1939 in the French Foreign Legion. In 1940 he joined the Resistance. In 1942, he was arrested near the Spanish border by the Gestapo, but released at the instigation of the Italian royal family soon. After that he was still in the Résistance active, he became involved in the organization de Résistance dans l'Armee. For this he was appointed by Charles de Gaulle Knight of the Legion of Honor and was allowed to officially reside in France in 1950, after he had renounced his claim to the throne.

In 1949, he married Alix de Foresta. They had four children, the twins Charles Napoléon and Catherine ( * 1950), Laure (* 1952) and Jerome ( b. 1957 ). As the eldest son of Charles Napoléon Bonaparte resigned after his father's death the successor as head of the house of Bonaparte.
